Basic Topical Guide for University Marketing Essays

Academic university marketing essays are commonly performed by university students taking up specific degrees in business education or general business courses, including academic programs such as marketing, business administration, business management, communication studies, commerce, and marketing research.

If a lecturer would give his students the option of choosing their own topics for their marketing essays, then the selection of interesting and good topics would become the initial challenges faced by the students in their marketing essay writing tasks. However, the basic tip those students could follow in selecting topics for their university marketing essays would be to make an initial topic outline that would be the topical guide and overview from which they could choose the final topics of their essays.

When the students perform a basic research about marketing, they would learn that there are five main fields from which they could already create a topic outline and they could perform further research based on this topic outline. Each of the main fields have their sub-fields with each sub-field having its own sections or fields that could be further broken down into simple parts until the students could choose the final specific topics for their university marketing essays.

Under the basic of marketing, the seven main fields are marketing fundamentals, branches of marketing, history of marketing, general concepts in marketing, and services marketing. The basic coverage of each main field:
- Marketing fundamentals involve the basics in marketing research, promoting the products or services provided by an organisation, and selling those products or services.
- History of marketing involves the development and evolution of marketing ideas, the schools of thought for marketing consisting of the traditional and modern schools, and the various important periods in the history of marketing.
- Branches of marketing involves the concepts commonly used in modern marketing such as direct marketing such as direct selling, multi-level marketing such as network marketing, services marketing, sponsorship marketing, pricing of goods or services, product or service management, and promotion of the goods or services.
- General marketing concepts consist of types of consumer behaviour, various forms of direct marketing, methods or techniques in business distribution, types of retail outlets, types of marketing management, and concepts in marketing research.
- Services marketing consists of marketing of the goods and the marketing of services.
